There is an opening in the Andres lab for a postdoctoral fellow to work on a recently funded collaborative NIH project investigating the role of a novel G-protein signaling cascade involved in functional recovery following TBI. The project uses a preclinical model of brain trauma and a state-of-the-art collection of transgenic mice, to build upon exciting data demonstrating that the RIT1 GTPase reduces in vivo neurodegeneration, promotes synaptic integrity by reducing post-contusion synaptic loss, and alleviates cognitive dysfunction following brain injury. Our research team uses an integrative approach that includes molecular biology, cellular imaging, and biochemical approaches including metabolomics. Specific projects will be driven by the candidates' interests and expertise.
Interested candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or an M.D., less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience, and a strong background in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of project completion and relevant first author publications. Start date is negotiable, but ideally would be in summer 2019.
