The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Technology Transfer and Economic Development is the leader of the Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development and reports to the Vice Chancellor of the Division of Research & Economic Development (DORED).
The primary purpose of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Technology Transfer and Economic Development position is to provide increase the University's intellectual property and commercialization portfolio. Other responsibilities include leadership in the daily operations of DORED and other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development. Responsibilities also include serving as the DORED representative on key university initiatives and committees as well as representing the university on regional and national economic development organizations.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED) manages N.C. A&T's research enterprise. DORED provides services to faculty and student researchers, to current and potential research partners, funding agencies, and economic development agencies. It is headed by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development.
The Office of Tech Transfer and Economic Development provides oversight for the management and development of the University's intellectual property portfolio, and leads its research commercialization activities. It also leads the university's liaison with industry partners. Specific activities include submission of patent applications; marketing and licensing intellectual property; collaborating with industry partners; managing non-disclosures, material transfer and data use agreements; and promoting economic development in the region and state.
