The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Graduate Program Assistant (Program Assistant II). This position will manage all aspects of the graduate program and coordinate recruitment, admissions, orientation and program administration. Responsibilities include managing admission processes, developing and implementing orientation programs, monitoring student progress and providing guidance to ensure success. Additionally, the position will develop internal and external partnerships to further the goals of the program through funding & collaborative opportunities. This position supports the leadership team in problem solving and anticipating future issues. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both independently and in a team setting, have excellent time management skills and the ability to communicate clearly. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with student recruitment. Experience with database management. Experience with on-line application systems. Experience with graduate student programs.
