Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Director and designated CVI member, the Research Teaching Specialist IV is responsible for the conduct of specialized research and technical statistical analyses related to research conducted at the Cardiovascular Institute. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs various research, statistical analyses and related operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of the CVI and as assigned to specialized research projects.
Assists in the development of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and related instrumentation, as well as coordination of the analytical and related instrumentation functions within the CVI.
Under supervision, assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical functions of the CVI.
Uses a computer matching program to identify admissions to NJ hospitals of patients and determines which patients were admitted more than once in a given year and then provide a sequential ID number to those who were not admitted before.
Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
Assists with the instruction and training of students, fellows and trainees as required.
Keeps detailed records of procedures and statistical methods, compiles data and presents results, as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field or a Bachelor’s Degree in disciplines indicated plus one (1) year of related research experience performing statistical analyses for clinical research.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency using SAS and other similar analytical software.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, ability to multi-task, and the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
