The Media Relations Specialist assists the Assistant Dean for Communications in all areas of media relations: identifies and promotes stories that support the law school's key messages; assists in promoting and growing the law school's media expert program; fields media inquiries and manages general interview requests; writes and distributes press materials; maintains media monitoring; tracks and reports on media coverage; responsible for a variety of special tasks and projects to facilitate the media relations efforts, including attending events. The Media Relations Specialist will build relationships with faculty and staff at the law school to discover newsworthy stories and expertise to develop pitches and media outreach strategies, as well as cultivate relationships with local, national and international news media to increase and enhance media coverage. Where relevant, the Media Relations Specialist will incorporate multimedia features in stories, including photos, short videos and infographics. Requirements include solid media instincts, strong writing ability and proofreading skills applied across many platforms, including case studies, printed marketing materials, newsletters, opinion pieces, and more.
