Under the direction of the Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery physicians, the Sr. Physician Assistant (PA) will provide patient care in support to the Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery practice and will also hold independent clinics to support general/specialty patient care.
Provides comprehensive history and physical exams; orders diagnostic test and follow up on these and other lab tests; triage's phone calls; formulates a plan of care. Plans and implements treatment, teaching and/or support to patients and families. Provides consultation to other health and allied professionals to collaboratively assess patient care needs and treatment plans. Other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited PA training program. Physician Assistant (PA) license issued by the state of California.
BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
A minimum one (1) year recent working licensed PA experience.
Ability to perform initial history, and physical examination, identify major medical problems, and formulate appropriate plans of action.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data in a meaningful manner.
Skills necessary to function as first assistant in operative procedures, and knowledge of operating room standards and techniques.
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing. Skill in appropriate telephone techniques.
Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy in order to interact effectively with all levels of professional staff and a diversity of patients.
A self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a very detail oriented individual; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.
Must possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
Must possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Current ACLS certification.
ENT, Otolaryngology, Head & Neck, and/or Surgical Ambulatory experience.
Experience with pediatric patients.
Knowledge of UCSD policies and procedures.
Must be able to obtain UCSD medical staff privileges.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
