The Department of Global Health and Population seeks to improve global health through education, research, and service from a population-based perspective. The twenty-first century has arrived with complex changes in demographic patterns, disease burdens, our natural environments and health policies. These changes are affecting all societies, rich and poor, developed and developing. The department brings together disciplinary expertise in many areas to leverage different perspectives and approaches to global health issues.
The Department's research combines the analysis of population and health using quantitative and qualitative methods, the investigation of policies that affect general and reproductive health, and a concern with the politics, ecology and ethics of health and development. Our faculty members are engaged in cutting-edge research in such areas as health metrics, experimental economics / randomized trials, social and economic development, health policy, longitudinal aging studies, health systems, women and children's health, infectious and chronic diseases, health equity, human rights and humanitarian relief – particularly in the context of developing countries.
The Executive Assistant (EA) is responsible for the smooth operation of the Chair's Office within the Department of Global Health and Population. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Executive Assistant will work under minimal supervision, performing a wide range of complex and confidential administrative and clerical support duties to support the Chair's Office, including but not limited to:
Composing and editing letters, memoranda, reports, lecture/course materials, and presentations
Taking meeting minutes
Liaise with projects and programs directly affiliated with the chair
Other duties as assigned
This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the tact to provide information and service to diverse internal and external contacts. The preferred candidate will be proactive, flexible, diplomatic and discern and anticipate the needs of the GHP's Department Chair. The candidate will have solid experience in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking.

5+ years related experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
3+ years of experience in academia and experience working in cross cultural environments preferred.
Previous experience as an executive assistant preferred.
Foreign language skills preferred
Familiarity with WordPress and Concur preferred
Experience providing complex administrative support in a high-profile and fast-paced environment, which includes exercising discretion and confidentiality as needed preferred
Proven interpersonal skills preferred
Solid working knowledge of office processes and business policy development preferred
Experience with related computer software and electronic communication tools preferred
