This position will be responsible for management of current and prospective student administrative needs for all services that fall outside of the curriculum. The incumbent will interact with VP&S students as well as faculty and administration.
Directs the operations of the Offices of Student Affairs (including VP&S clubs and activities), Admissions, and Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. Reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs, with a dotted line report to the Senior Associate Deans for Admissions and Diversity and to the Associate Dean for Education Administration & Finance.
Trains, supervises, and handles performance management for staff including Director of Student Activities/P&S Club, Manager of Student Services, Program Coordinator for Residency, Executive Assistant to the Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Administrative Office Coordinator, and Career Advisor.
Manages new staff hiring, on boarding, and training process.
Oversees and manages planning of all major ceremonies and events, including New Student Orientation, Commencement, and related events.
Helps determine strategy and direction for the offices of Student Affairs, Admissions, and Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. Helps ensure that office processes are as efficient as possible and maintains the transition to electronic systems whenever possible.
Serves as primary liaison between students and student support services.
Provides administrative management of the VP&S Education website, inclusive of all Education programs (MD, OT, PT, Human Nutrition, Genetic Counseling, PhD Programs).
Serves as the Administrative liaison to the VP&S Office of Communication on all student-focused communication projects, i.e. medical student recruitment materials, student event and activity news and magazine pieces, medical student photo library, and new web content.
Directs management of medical student facilities including the VEC student locker inventory, the Black Building student locker room access and inventory, the VP&S Student Lounge access, and the VEC MD& PhD student lounge equipment.
Assists Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs with student advising when appropriate.
Administers surveys and produces subsequent data analysis to support the academic and career advising needs of medical students.
Produces recurring and ad hoc enrollment reports for various stakeholders.
As needed, provides senior-level support for any and all special issues relating to student life and services including on-call coordination of student safety, security, or any other special or emergency circumstance.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience.
Master's degree preferable.
Requires background in student life, management, operations, and training and at least five years of experience in a related area. The ability to interact effectively with students and all levels of staff is essential. Creativity, good networking, and strong technical skills are a plus.
