B achelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) . Directly related experience or coursework related to one of the following: budget, finance, business administration, higher education administration, analytics, financial literacy, statistics or related field.
Bachelor's (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in a related field such as finance, accounting, business or higher education administration. Experience in a higher education/academic environment to include an understanding of a student services type areas. Presentation experience.
Brief Description of Duties :
The Office of the Bursar's mission is to advance the financial literacy of Stony Brook University's students as well as promote timely degree completions. The position will help to support the Bursar's Office staff with a broad range of professional administrative duties. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong academic record who can take initiative and drive results. Therefore, the selected candidate must have strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make effective decisions.
T he successful incumbent will also have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
This opportunity is being offered to help future higher education gain skills and competencies in the field of . You would be responsible for assisting the Office of the Bursar with a broad range of responsibilities in support of financial literacy related projects and initiatives.
Assist with the Office of the Bursar's overall projects and initiatives that promote financial literacy and overall holistic financial wellness, c onducting research and analyses . Assist with developing sessions and presentations. Learn about the overall Bursar's Office through participation in decisions.
Focus will be on assisting with Financial Literacy project topics: Through the close and careful guidance of the supervisor, the incumbent will learn how to extract a cohort of students utilizing pre-set conditions in order to conduct a financial literacy analysis.
Attend and participate in meetings; when appropriate, coordinate meetings and events, research data for reports, prepare meeting agendas, draft letters, research information, compose reports and oversee related distribution.
Enhance relevant professional skills and understanding of University operations through participation in various training programs, courses, or other learning opportunities as appropriate.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.
Special Notes: This Traineeship is a one-year renewable position, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Weekend work may be required at times.
