Central Maintenance Assistant Director - Facilities & Services 11523
The Facilities Management unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Central Maintenance Assistant Director. This position will be responsible for oversight of all trades supervision for the Central Shops of Facilities Management Maintenance Division on a day-to-day basis.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Assist in developing written procedures for improving the operational functions associated with managing the maintenance services for a highly visible state facility.
Assist in developing models to evaluate current and future staffing levels and incorporate them into a workable, long-range strategy to better support the mission of the University Master Plan for facilities.
Act as a liaison between maintenance staff and Facilities Management project team to ensure a level of cooperation and efficiency on all projects.
Coordinate and plan action during emergency situations which may require internal and external sources.
Maintain overall budgetary responsibility for this department.
Perform and schedule divisional training for various levels of personnel on equipment as well as management technique and procedures.
Work with Environmental Health and Safety to ensure all building and life safety codes are enforced to ensure a safe working environment for all Facilities Management employees, and provide safe surroundings on campus for students, faculty and staff.
Interface with the various utility providers who supply the necessary utilities to the University to ensure compliance with all applicable safety codes. Work closely with the Planning, Design, and Construction unit of Facilities Management to develop long-range planning for campus infrastructure projects.
Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations and guidelines.
Maintain and administer the Facilities Management Apprenticeship program.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; related experience may be considered in regard to educational requirements
At least seven (7) years of experience in managing a large facilities management organization
Valid driver's license
