DUTIES: The Case Management Staff Assistant provides technical and administrative support to the Case Management and Utilization Management in order to improve quality and efficiency of the department processes and workflows. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the Staff Assistant in submitting relevant documents and information to the managed Care companies for authorizations of hospital services, Skilled Nursing Facilitates, Sub-Acute Rehab and other acute care facilities. - Collaborate with Staff Assistant in distributing daily correspondence from managed care companies, vendors and other health care facilities pertinent to hospitalization and care transitions. - Assist in reviewing and distributing department and regulatory policies and procedures in compliance with Joint Commission. - Assist in assuring regulatory elements pertinent to CMS and DOH are distributed and signatures secured in order to meet maximum compliance: (Moon and IMM notices). - Assist in preparing administrative reports for various committees such as PI, EPIC, URRCC. - Perform data entry in hospital systems (Eagle, MorCare) in order to ensure appropriate communication between Case Management and Patient Financial Services. - Perform special projects or duties assigned by the Case Management Manager/Director/VP. - Assist in communications and coordination with medical staff, Health Information Management, Admitting/Registration, Patient Financial Services and other ancillary departments. - Maintain a log of concurrent denials received telephonically via fax or portals to the appropriate Case Manager. Experience: - Minimum of 3 years of office, practice or hospital clerical experience and 1 to 3 years as an Administrative Assistant. Knowledge: - Proficiency in use of PC, Microsoft and clinical applications. Skills: - Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal guidance. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Flexibility and willingness to adapt to meet the needs of the department. - Ability to prioritize workload and maintain confidentiality.
