The Data Analyst, under general supervision, gathers, compiles, analyzes, interprets, reports data and identifies patterns.Responsibilities
35% Support leaders in the Division of Enrollment Management to inform strategic decision making. Responds to requests for information and prepares ad hoc reports and query analyses in desired formats. Collects, analyzes, interprets and reports data and information. Maintains business relationship and dialogue with relevant stakeholders in the division to sustain ongoing understanding of their decision support needs in enhancing enrollment growth, recruitment and student success. Assists stakeholders in developing and refining business/enrollment questions. Educates division employees to collect, access, analyze and interpret information independently and in collaboration with other stakeholders.
30% Incorporates applied research methods to analyze data to provide information for decision making, including appropriate interpretation of analysis results. Develops predictive models to enhance efficiencies of recruitment efforts and student success interventions. Creates, maintains and updates presentation-ready dashboards and otherwise facilitates visualization of data for stakeholder engagement.
10% Administers, analyzes and reports survey or focus group results.
10% Support the Vice President of Enrollment Management in assessment of division planning and evaluation efforts.
10% Maintains an understanding of data available to answer pressing questions about trends in enrollment, recruitment and student success. Anticipates questions through review of data, information, research and policy studies including those related to internal and external conversations around higher education. Continually monitors data available at the institutional, system (TAMU), state (THECB, 60x30TX) and national levels (IPEDS, National Clearinghouse) for integration into decision support. Connecting with internal and external producers and users of data for purposes of informing decision making. Develops, maintains and updating databases for enrollment-focused trend and comparative analysis.
5% Other duties as assigned by VP of Enrollment Management
Required Education and Experience: Bachelorâ™s degree in statistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Three years of related experience in data collection and analysis.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of SQL and programming concepts/logic; Ability to create data reports based upon user specifications; Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others or independently as tasks require; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Detail orientation and strong organizational skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Experience: Experience with student information systems (Banner); Prior work experience in higher education
