A Postdoctoral Fellow position isavailable in the laboratory of Dr. Amber Smith in the Department of Pediatrics atUniversity of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The successful applicantwill work with Dr. Amber Smith to develop and analyze mathematical models ofthe immune response and treatment of respiratory viral and bacterial infectionsand coinfections. The Smith lab is a combined dry/wet laboratory and has the uniqueability to generate robust data sets to train and validate the models andpredictions.
The successful applicant willcollaborate with computational biologists, virologists, bacteriologists,immunologists, and clinicians within the Smith Lab, across UTHSC, and atneighboring St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He/she will develop and analyze dynamical infection models, use parameterestimation to investigate experimental kinetic data, design new experiments,and generate new hypotheses about infection biology. Publishing in highquality journals and submitting grant will be expected.
