Gannon University invites applications for a full-time, grant-funded Coordinator for the McNair Scholars Program who will report directly to the Program Director. This position is renewable through September 2022 pending budget approval each year by the U.S. Department of Education. The Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program is a federally funded TRIO program that prepares low-income, first-generation students and/or students from groups underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral studies. The Program Coordinator will manage daily program operations, recruit eligible students, assist with the development and implementation of activities for and services to McNair Scholars, and support students in all aspects of the graduate application process. The candidate will have close interaction with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff and be expected to travel for professional development and to support student visits to graduate schools and conferences.
Eligible candidates for this position must have an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and a minimum of two years of professional experience working with the target student population (first-generation students, low-income students, and/or students who have historically been underrepresented in graduate education). A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must also possess excellent verbal, written, proofreading and organizational skills, the ability to transcribe correspondence and enter data into records and logs with accuracy, the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities, seeking direction regarding courses of action, the ability to research and compile data, and the ability to utilize Microsoft Office and other program databases. The candidate must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
