The College of Nursing is seeking a Director of Professional Education with primary responsibilities for planning, marketing, implementing, and evaluating non-credit professional nursing education activities. The position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and works in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Public Service. The Professional Education unit is an Approved Provider Unit (APU) of continuing nursing education (CNE) by the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA); an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (OBN-001-91). The successful candidate will provide leadership in developing innovative and revenue generating education programs for nursing and healthcare audiences; participate in grant writing for internal and external funding; assist in developing academic partnerships related to educational activities for practicing nurses, develop networks for community professional education; submit and monitor processes and procedures for accreditation and regulatory purposes; and develop strategic initiatives to expand programming. This is a twelve month, full-time position with undergraduate teaching and scholarship responsibilities.
Position responsibilities include:
Directs all Approved Provider Unit (APU) operations in collaboration with ONA and MSU/College of Nursing; assuring compliance with ANCC guidelines and requirements
Directs all CNE activities
Supervises unit personnel
Engages in community exploration to determine CNE needs of community partner organizations, affiliated co-providers, faculty, and the nursing community
Responds to consultation/collaboration requests
Develops and implements new programs in response to needs of nursing community at large
Reviews and directs revision of enduring programs in compliance with ANCC criteria
Determines contracting terms (revenue/expense proforma) in collaboration with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Oversees development of marketing plan and materials to advertise programs in webpages, electronic, and paper distribution systems
Determines and oversees technical support required to implement CNE programs and APU functionality
Manages APU programming budget in collaboration with MSU Nursing personnel
Assures accurate payment posting, invoice processing, refund processing, and financial processing of EBS transactions
Adheres to all MSU College of Nursing and university policies and procedures
Teaches undergraduate courses as assigned per semester
Engages in scholarship, developing products commensurate with faculty rank
Serves as Primary Nurse Planner of the MSU College of Nursing in compliance with all ANCC requirements
Masters -in Nursing
Doctorate -in Nursing or related field
In addition to a Master's degree in Nursing, leadership experience in nursing, healthcare and professional education programming is required. The candidate must possess an unrestricted Michigan registered nursing license without probationary status or be eligible to apply; experience with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation (APIE) of continuing education activities; expertise in educational design and adult learning theories; knowledge of ANCC accreditation criteria and Michigan Board of Nursing rules; teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level; demonstrated ability to work well with students and faculty; five years nursing experience with two years in a formal provider agency or school of nursing; excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to enthusiastically represent the College of Nursing to a variety of audiences and healthcare professionals are required.
Experience with community partnership models, international educational programs, online learning, and conference and event planning is highly desired.
