Position Description: California State University, Monterey Bay, under the leadership of President, Eduardo M. Ochoa, is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University system. Founded in 1994, on the site of the former Fort Ord, the Monterey Bay campus serves over 7,000 students from across the state including its primary service area consisting of the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito. A growing population of international students, as well as out of state domestic students, enhances the vibrant culture and community of CSUMB.
Under direction of Senior International Officer and Associate Dean of International Programs and Services, the Director of Education Abroad and Partnership is responsible for maintaining and managing all international programs agreements and contracts; administering Education Abroad and Exchange Programs including faculty-led programs and working across departments with students and faculty exchange as well conducting research and writing grants. ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support the Associate Dean of International Programs in all agreements and contracts. Lead the management and maintenance of the articulation with international partner institutions in collaboration with deans, CSUMB academic units, Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate, General Council, Students Affairs, Risk Management Office, Procurement Office and Clary Compliance Office.
Collaborate with Academic colleges and partner institutions to develop opportunities and provide support and guidance for CSUMB faculty for exchange, joint research and publications. Collaborate with academic units and develop and implement the learning assessment for education abroad learning outcomes.
Administer and oversee the Education Abroad team.
Collaborate closely with Risk Management Office and other units across university to revise and implement Crisis Management plan for outgoing students.
Work with Student Information System (SIS) team and partner institutions to maintain an accurate annual student exchange balance.
Conduct an inventory of the existing processes and develop new processes and procedures in education abroad for an easier and more seamless semester and summer education abroad programs.
Work with IP Associate Dean, IP team, and across university to streamline program development processes, assess and manage risk associated with education abroad, communicate and implement policies, develop and monitor performance indicators for programmatic success.
Gather and compile information and data, and assists the Associate Dean in the preparation of annual reports and other reports. Ensure data is used to evaluate and improve program operations and services.
In collaboration with Financial Aid Office, develop and implement criteria and processes for education abroad scholarships as well as overseas study abroad scholarships.
In collaboration with SIS, maintain, review and/or enhance the developed process and for a systematic data reporting to stay current on exchange balance with all CSUMB partners for both incoming and outgoing students.
Collaborate with the Associate Dean and University Development to assist with outreach and fundraising. Research and develop education abroad alumni networks.
Assist and support Associate Dean on seeking and writing grants.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: the principles, problems, and methods of self-supporting program development and administration. Knowledge of modern management and administrative techniques related to the development and implementation of appropriate methods of work planning, scheduling and coordination in a team environment to meet changing organizational objectives.
Skills in: planning and budgeting in a self-supporting environment. Excellent leadership, collaborative and communication skills with a commitment to quality service. Sensitivity to diverse customs and cultures.
Ability to: manage change and optimize fiscal and human resources in a client oriented, self-supporting department; deal positively with the ever-changing international market; employ an entrepreneurial approach to providing creative and innovate educational programs; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; analyze situations, take corrective action and resolve conflict; handle multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines; work with a diverse population of managers, ESL instructors, university personnel, staff, international students, foreign dignitaries and sponsors; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a related field (i.e. Higher Education, Business, Public Administration, Human Resources, or other related field).
Experience: Three to five years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the job responsibilities. Two years of supervisory and/or management experience.
Seven to ten years (7 to 10) of experience in international education programs and/or management
Experience working with custom programs development and budgeting
Experience working with Education abroad administration including the development and management of faculty led programs including budget development
Experience and expertise in risk management for both in-bound and out-bound students; with demonstrated experience with best practices in risk management
Demonstrated experience with developing office protocols, procedures and processes. Prefer experience with systematizing and automation of routine tasks such as on line education abroad application systems.
Experience in Grant writing and the administration of grants
Demonstrated ability to manage office daily activities including hosting international visitors in absence of associate dean and director of incoming international student and scholars services
Technical fluency with Banner, Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system; Microsoft Office Professional Suite, G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive, and Calendar); intranet drives; and Internet browsers. Highly desirable: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CSUMBs Founding Vision Statement.

This position will have a duty to report to the Campus Title IX Officer information pertaining to victims of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence, and stalking as required by CSU Executive Order 1095.
This position has been designated as a sensitive position with:
responsibility for the care, safety and security of people (including children and minors), animals and CSU property;
access to, or control over, cash, checks, credit cards, and/or credit card account information;
responsibility or access/possession of building master or sub-master keys for building access;
control over campus business processes, either through functional roles or system security access.
This position is required to comply with confidentiality requirements outlined in the Department of Educations Family Educational Rights and Privacy and Californias Educational Code Chapter 13 regarding sensitive student issues.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority, will be required to participate in annual training, and to immediately forward to University Police all reports of Clery Act crimes brought to their attention.
Must possess and maintain a valid license to drive in the State of California, pass the Defensive Training Class, and be insurable under the Universitys liability coverage.
May require occasional evenings and/or weekend work.
Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. Position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. Requires travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
