Advertised Summary Job Description: The Columbia University Medical Center - Department of Medicine Research Management Development Program is a 6-month program designed for recent college graduates seeking to prepare for a career in the management of a research enterprise. The program is open to students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of application and will graduate prior to the residency program's start date.
The purpose of the residency program is to provide an introduction to pre- and post-award management as well as divisional financial management. Residents will assist with identifying and applying for grants, administration of such grants including budget development and timely submission of progress reports and other deliverables. Additionally, residents will assist with managing and monitoring divisional research accounts using multiple university financial systems (ARC, PAC, FINSYS). Throughout the program, residents will work closely with Division Administrators and Grants Managers to ensure smooth administrative planning, budgeting, and overall execution of various programs and grants. The program is structured to provide experiential learning in an academic medical center environment for a period of 6 months.
General Minimum Qualifications: Individuals who have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree program within 6 months prior to the program's start date are eligible to apply.
Candidates should be motivated self-starters and must also possess strong analytic, organization and communication skills.

Two applicants will be selected by each participating department. Decisions will be communicated by early May for a start date of Monday, July 2, 2018. The program will run from July 2, 2018 to December 31, 2018.
