Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Under the direction of the PI and designated Staff Scientist, the RAI will execute experiments which have been broadly outlined by the supervisor. The RAI will perform tissue culture mainly with human cells, including primary fibroblast cultures, iPSC reprogramming and differentiation, direct conversion of fibroblasts into human neural cell types including neurons, and other primary and cell line cultures. The work involves transgenesis of mammalian cells using multiple strategies. Tissue culture-based experiments will include live cell imaging, immunocytochemistry, image analysis/quantification, western blots and immunohistochemistry. The candidate will perform several molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, viral vector cloning, nucleic acid purification, ELISA, and Next Generation Sequencing library preparation. Responsible for preparing competent cells, maintaining buffers, reagents, and other lab stocks.
