Drew University is seeking an Assistant Director in the Center for Global Education to serve in a functional leadership and coordination role, and be responsible for day-to-day central administration, operations, and all student-facing services in a busy office with a high-volume workload.
The Assistant Director has primary responsibility for every stage of the Center for Global Education’s enrollment management process, from student inquiry to returnee phase. This includes marketing and recruitment, student advising, and oversight of the application process elements. In carrying out these duties, the Assistant Director is responsible for the maintenance and technical support of the Center’s website and application management system. The Assistant Director is the liaison between the Center and other campus offices (student accounts, financial aid, registrar, health services), ensuring seamless coordination of all post-acceptance services. This role also plans and executes pre-departure and returnee programming. Another significant aspect of the position is the coordination of the review and approval of vendor contracts and financial operations, including invoice processing, group flight arrangements, and expense and program budget reports.
The Center for Global Education is part of Drew’s Launch Pad, the Center for Professional Development and Experiential Learning. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Assistant Director will serve as one of a team of Career Community Coordinators, assisting with customized career-development partnerships, programs, and web spaces.
Drew’s Center for Global Education annually administers 6 semester-long programs in NYC, 20 short-term faculty-led programs, a Semester in London, and partnerships with program providers. Approximately 300 students participate in these program annually.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in education abroad and an awareness of standards of best practice in the field. Experience living, working, or studying abroad is required. Strong computer skills, including experience with Terra Dotta, is equally important. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented and able to work independently. The ability to make mature and professional decisions, juggle multiple tasks, and work under pressure is essential. Finally, candidates should have a strong sense of customer service and be able to engage enthusiastically with students.
