The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science (ECECS) in the Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position and/or lecturer in computer science with expertise in the application of data science to cybersecurity. The expected start date is August 2019.
The ECECS Department plays a pivotal role in a number of key strategic priorities for the college and the university. Among these priorities is a university-wide focus on data science and cybersecurity, including a newly launched M.S. in Data Science program. Computer science faculty have received ongoing grant support from agencies such as NSF, NSA, and DHS and have a strong partnership with MITRE. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen these activities.
The successful candidate will teach a mix of courses in data science, cybersecurity and core areas of computer science and will develop a research program that complements existing research activities in the department and college, with application of data science to cybersecurity or other areas, and will engage graduate and undergraduate students in research. Opportunities for research collaboration exist within the college and across the university. Scholarly publications and grant writing to establish funded research is expected. Service at the program, departmental, college and university levels on various working groups and committees, is also expected. Other duties may include working with corporations to secure industry-sponsored design projects and outreach/recruiting.
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning.
Exceptional candidates with an appropriate MS degrees and extensive experience directly related to data science or cybersecurity may be considered for a non-tenure track position. Highly desired is the ability to contribute to growing expertise in the department in cybersecurity and data science.
