The Department of Educational Administration is seeking a full time qualified individual for a tenure track position of Assistant/Associate Professor. Rank to be determined based on qualifications. The program is located at the College's extension center, Brockport Downtown in Rochester, NY and courses are offered in Rochester and at an extension site near Corning, NY (approximately 90 miles from Rochester). The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both sites and must be able to teach at least five of the following courses: Educational Administration: 600 Foundations of Educational Leadership, 653 Building Level Leadership, 678 Evidenced based Techniques for Teacher Assessment, 694 Resource Management, 830 Leading Instructional Improvement Strategies, 871 Legal Basis of Education, 885 Practicum in Educational Leadership, 888 Internship and 896 Central Office Administration.
Teach Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) courses in educational administration, in face-to-face and online formats Advise CAS students Participate in work on program development and student recruitment Participate in the work on CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) accreditation Participate in the work on program assessment Produce scholarship by publishing in books and journals, working to secure grants and/or presenting at regional/state/national conferences Perform service to the department, region, college and profession.
Earned doctorate in Education Administration or a closely related field from a US Dept. of Education or an internationally recognized institution CAS in Educational Administration Five years' experience as a public school (K-12) administrator or in a K - 12 public school leadership position Successful experience teaching hybrid and/or online teaching Willingness to teach summer courses Successful experience teaching adult populations Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population and public school community Evidence of professional engagement in the field at the regional, state, or national level Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion Experience working successfully with diverse populations
Experience as a New York State public school (K-12) administrator or leader Experience in K - 12 administration or leadership across the full range of grade/school levels Earned tenure as a K - 12 administrator Evidence of effective college-level teaching Scholarly interests and publications/presentations as indicated by rank requirements Experience in student internship supervision.
Department Description Students entering Educational Administration (EDA) have a career goal of school administrator [e.g., Assistant Principal, Principal, Director/Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. Participation in the program leads to an advanced degree: Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) and an endorsement for certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL)]. These certifications are required for most administrative or leadership positions in a New York State school district. The department also offers a 12-credit Teacher Leadership Certificate. The Educational Administration program is approved by the New York State Department of Education for both School Building (SBL) and School District (SDL) Leader certification and Teacher Leader (TL). The program is accredited through CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation).
Courses are offered on Saturdays, with an occasional weeknight seminar. Coursework is completed in a hybrid format, half the time is spent in class and half the time in an online format. Classes are offered in the fall, spring and summer terms. We are sensitive to public K - 12 school breaks and classes are not scheduled during those times. Cohorts start in fall and spring semesters and most students complete the program in six consecutive terms.
