During the fellowship, participation in faculty development, acting as a junior faculty member, initiation of a research project, teaching residents and students on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service and active care of pregnant and delivering patients is required. In addition to a core curriculum in women’s health, the schedule allows elective time to pursue areas of special interest.
The fellowship provides an exciting opportunity to train in primary care women’s health. This program offers a 1-year clinical fellowship.
The clinical curriculum includes training across the continuum of care, including ambulatory, acute, inpatient, maternity care, and procedural skills for career development.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

The Maternity and Women’s Health Fellowship is designed to develop teachers of women’s health, to provide fellows with the skills and knowledge to care for underserved women and to enhance the academic and service excellence within the Department of Family Medicine. The fellowship has a strong emphasis in clinical service and productivity.
