The Statler Hotel at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration is delighted to announce a career opportunity for a Management Trainee for our Banquet & Conference Services Department.
The Statler Hotel is the showcase for Cornell University's world-renowned School of Hotel Administration, and, for many visitors, the gateway to the university. Located at the center of Cornell's beautiful campus overlooking Cayuga Lake and the city of Ithaca --in the heart of the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York State—the hotel has earned the dual distinction as the area's only AAA Four Diamond Award-winning property and the Ivy League's only "teaching hotel." The hotel, with 153 rooms, is a full service property with a conference center, three restaurants and over 16,000 square feet of meeting and banquet facilities.
Responsibilities: As a trainee on our management team, will assist in maintaining a world class level of service to our guests and a career-related learning environment for our students. Will assist with overseeing staff during the setup, execution and breakdown of a range of events, including: breakfasts, lunches, dinners, receptions, meetings, conferences, weddings, and other events involving food & beverage service. Will also assist in our teaching mission by setting an example of professional service and participate in the training, coaching and mentoring of our student staff.
Requirements: Our ideal candidate will have the right combination of education, food & beverage service experience and personal attributes. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual with a professional demeanor and superior customer service skills, indicative of a AAA rated Four Diamond hotel. The candidate must have the potential to develop effective leadership and supervisory skills and style and must have the ability to assist with the training, coaching and mentoring of college students in an experiential learning environment. With a business volume that frequently changes throughout the year, the candidate must be able to meet a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
