Director, Learning and Performance - University Advancement-2011991
Carnegie Mellon is enjoying its most productive fundraising years in its history, raising more than $500M over the last three years. University Advancement supports the entire CMU community in securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking a Director, Learning and Performance. You will report to the executive director of advancement operations and will be responsible for leading University Advancement's (UA) professional learning and development programs for advancement staff.
In this role, you will also be responsible for developing and coordinating all aspects of training, tools and services that drive individual, group and organizational performance in support of the division's fundraising and programmatic objectives; in addition to assessing comprehensive employee development needs, benchmarking with other institutions to ensure training programs are consistent with standard methodologies, researching trends and needs to establish program directions accordingly, delivering the appropriate learning opportunities and measuring the effectiveness of professional development initiatives.
Core responsibilities will include:
Developing professional skills, such as communication, time management, partnership and collaboration, project management, budget management, public speaking, management of staff, and leadership;
Campaigning, fundraising, and engagement training for staff and campus leadership and partners including campaign basics, engagement, cultivation, solicitation skills, stewardship and donor relations, storytelling, and planned giving basics;
Recruiting and mentoring of students hosted by UA through the CASE Summer Internship Program and coordinator of project work designed to introduce undergraduate and graduate students to careers in the profession;
Ongoing university training to provide updates on key priority areas for the campaign and associated giving opportunities; and
Partnering with UA's human resources team to create effective on-boarding strategies for new employees with an emphasis on rapidly integrating staff into their advancement roles.

You will serve in a highly visible role, having significant interaction with development officers and senior leadership campus-wide. This position plays a key role in maximizing the effectiveness of professional front-line fundraisers for CMU's fundraising campaign.
Bachelor's degree in organizational development, training and development, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred;
Minimum five years of management experience in organizational development, training and development, education or related field, preferably in a higher education setting required;
Demonstrated experience in:
program leadership, planning, design and implementation;
learning technologies, and technology-assisted training tools;
leading culture change and organizational change;
design and delivery of career and personal development tools and programs.
The ability to travel between various locations on and off campus, as well as availability during some evening and weekend hours are both critical.
