VISITING INSTRUCTOR WHITTIER COLLEGE WRITING PROGRAM
The College Writing Program at Whittier College invites applications for 1, and possibly 2, full-time, non-continuing instructor positions.Appointment to these positions will be for the fall term 2019 and will carry the rank of Visiting Instructor.
Qualifications for the position include: 1) an M.A. or higher in Composition and Rhetoric, or a similar field; and, 2) a minimum of two years successful experience teaching college-level composition.
Applicants with an M.A. or higher in Creative Writing, Literature, Linguistics, or Communication Studies and substantial expertise in current writing pedagogy are also welcome.Experience with both traditional writing pedagogy and composition across modes and media will be especially desirable. The successful candidate will teach four sections of our First Year Writing Seminar, INTD 100.
At Whittier College, writing, learning, and student engagement with faculty and peers are very tightly integrated. All first year students at Whittier College enroll, in their first semester, in writing seminars primarily designed to introduce them to the expectations for college writers. These seminars consist of not more than 15 students, emphasize writing as a process, combine elements of Collaborative, Rhetorical, and Critical pedagogies, and are organized around substantive academic topics.
