The primary purpose of this position is to operate and maintain Illumina Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) System day-to day and generate sequencing data in order to run analyses for research investigators. The Research Technician will be responsible for technical details and troubleshooting regarding the experiments he or she conducted with this technology to meet HTSF quality needs, and will assist in various genomics projects. The individual will follow established protocols under the supervision of the Director and the Sequencing Manager. Other responsibilities will include using HTSF Laboratory Information Management Systems for sample and experiment processes and using QAQC values collected on libraries to conduct sample preparation for sequencing.
Education and Experience:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
-Technical knowledge of standardized or specialized procedures -Ability to follow instructions through a standard work process -Ability to monitor, observe, collect, and record data in order to assess accuracy -Ability to provide care for study subject within research protocol
Preferred Candidate will have the following: 1. Knowledge of next-generation sequencing such as RNAseq,and DNAseq 2. Prior experience on large sample processing and development of QC measures 3. Prior exposure to LIMS systems for sample and experiment tracking 4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and managers 5. Bachelor's Degree or higher in the fields of Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Animal Bioscience 6. 1 year minimum experience in a research lab, industrial lab, or university core facility 7. Comfort with working independently as well as working collaboratively
