Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Activities Assistant IV for the Inpatient Units at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Activities Assistant IV provides therapeutic games, groups, activities for patient’s leisure time and recreation projects on the acute services inpatient units.
Provides direct activity therapy consistent with social, emotional and developmental functioning of patients.
Facilitates recreational groups that assist the patient in learning productive leisure activities and appropriate interaction with other people.
Documents patient's response to groups in the clinical record.
Participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
Relieves the Activities Assistant on days off, holidays, and vacations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Successful completion of a one (1) year training program as a Mental Health Specialist Trainee or one (1) year of similar full-time experience in the mental health field.
An Associate's Degree, preferably in a related field, including 12 credits in human services, such a psychology or its equivalent, may be substituted for the minimum requirements of the position.
