To assemble, install, and repair piping, fixtures, and equipment used in the distribution and drainage of water and water-carried wastes, air, and gas.
Install, inspect, and repair water mains, service lines, sewer lines, air and gas lines, valves, gauges, pumps and fixtures, including sinks, commodes, dishwashers and disposals.
Cut pipe, using threading machine, and bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
Assemble and install pipe and pipe fittings of brass, cast-iron, copper, lead, glass, plastic, and other materials.
Join piping by means of treaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
Cut or bore through walls, ceilings, or partitions.
Test piping systems for leaks, using gauges.
Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
Unplug clogged drains, pipes, and fixtures.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and job specifications.
Repair and maintain fire protection systems.
Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended.
Knowledge and the repair of R.O. water systems.
Knowledge of dilution tanks.
Repair and maintain emergency eyewash and shower stations.
Ability to repair and winterize fire hydrants.
Ability to maintain and repair sewage and storm water lift stations.
Graduation from high school.
Must possess a Journeyman Plumber License. Master Plumber License is preferred.
Certification in Backflow Preventer Testing is preferred.
Considerable knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials used in the installation and repair of water distribution systems and fixtures.
Reasonable experience in the installation and repair of water distribution systems and fixtures.
Considerable skill in the operation of plumbing tools and power equipment.
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in relationships with others.
Reasonable knowledge of plumbing codes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Reasonable manual strength and dexterity.
Ability to observe safety precautions in the operation of tools and power equipment.
Reasonable knowledge of the maintenance requirements of water lines, fixtures, and controls.
