The University is under new leadership and as a result, is currently enjoying a surge in the number of itsâ incoming students. The Web Services Manager position will provide functional and technical leadership to the University in all aspects of Web Services. The incumbent will direct and manage the Web Steering Committee, which consists of a cross-functional team of VSU constituents, by managing the complex software web development project through all phases such as project scope, requirements, evaluation, work breakdown structures, design, development, deliverables, testing, implementation, and post implementation support. The incumbent will monitor and control project execution, direct the project team consisting of VSU project members, stakeholders, third-party vendors, and other agencies including Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) towards successful deployment, updating content, and maintenance of the University web site. The incumbent will coordinate and manage project communications, track project priorities and statuses, manage project risks, and user acceptance test cases and results. The position will coordinate the approval of project plans and ensure that the IT projects are in conformance with the VITA IT Security Standards (SEC-501), Universityâs IT Security policies and procedures, and industry best practices. The position will ensure that all web content management, web server, and web administrative and third-party application system installations and upgrades are in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Security Standards (SEC-501), Universityâs IT Security policies and procedures, and industry best practices. The position will also be responsible for designing templates, writing programming codes, testing, deploying, and evaluating the enterprise-wide web application and servers. The position will develop high level system and functional specifications. The incumbent will assemble varied software components in a web based application by adapting existing code into new requirements and by incorporating security requirements into the web application. The incumbent will test and validate web application by developing unit test scripts, interpreting results, and making recommendations. The incumbent will develop procedures for the web application and server system testing and validating to ensure system integrity. The incumbent will prepare appropriate documentation to record computer specifications, layouts, and peripheral equipment modifications. Lastly, the incumbent will ensure the web server is maintained in accordance with vendor specifications.
