The School of Education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH) at the University of Cincinnati seeks qualified applicants for the position of Instructional Designer Sr., providing instructional design support to faculty and staff designing and teaching courses in digital environments.
The primary functions of this position include individual and program level instructional design support for online and face-to-face courses in the School of Education. This position will be responsible for assisting in the transition of courses from Blackboard to Canvas and will work with faculty in a continuing effort towards greater accessibility of courses. The position will also work collaboratively with the faculty and staff of the Office of Innovative Technology & Learning Design and the School of Education to design and deliver professional development related to quality improvement of courses. Additional duties may include overseeing quality improvement initiatives related to courses hosted on the LMS, accessibility support, and general technology support.
Master's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Bachelor's with three (3) years' experience.
Degree must be Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum and Instruction or other related field.
Experience must include online/blended course design, curriculum development, faculty development or other related area.
Must be proficient in various technologies used in the instructional design and assessment process such as Learning Management Systems (Blackboard) and include some knowledge of website design, Flash, Java Script, MS office suite, social media networking.
Ideal Qualifications include
Master's degree in education with course work in curriculum design, educational technology, or online learning.
Two years of experience in a university setting in instructional design or related field.
Knowledge of adult learning theories and digital learning pedagogies.
Experience in teaching in PK-12 schools.
Experience designing and implementing faculty professional development.
Demonstration of innovative uses of technology in online learning environments to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
Familiarity of Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA).
Experience with accessibility implementation in eLearning environments.
Quality Matters peer reviewer.
Experience in digital video editing and captioning.
Knowledge of LMS Environments, preferably Blackboard and Canvas.
Knowledge of principles of universal design for learning.
Previous online teaching experience.
Instructional Design experience in Higher Education.
