Summary: (overview of position) This position reports to the manager of Training & Instructional Support. It requires designing and delivering end-user training and documentation (groups or individuals, in-person, webinars, videos and elearning courses) pertaining to relevant campus technology and applications. This position requires a self-motivated and resourceful individual who can assess the audience/situational needs and adapt to provide the appropriate level of learning.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Work with Subject Matter Experts to produce technical training course content pertaining to relevant campus technology
Deliver end-user training based on assessed needs and training objectives (groups or individuals, in-person, webinars, videos and elearning courses)
Create supporting content and technical documentation (e.g. handouts & documentation) to support training courses
Communicate effectively, assessing the audience/situational needs and adapting to provide the appropriate level of learning for technical and nontechnical individuals
Develop teaching assessment tools to determine effectiveness of training; recommending and making improvements as needed.
Continue to learn and adopt new technologies, develop new skills, and achieve a functional and technical understanding of relevant campus technologies and applications
Engage in continuing professional development in the Learning and Development field
Report data as required
Serve as second-level support throughout the implementation phase of new software
Collaborate with the Support Desk to ensure smooth transition to a long-term support model
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology
Two years of experience in instructional design and delivery of technical learning and development.
Experience delivering training to promote adoption of new software
Three years of experience in Higher Education
Proficiency in using Adobe Captivate to create training videos
Proficiency in video management systems such as Kaltura
Proficiency in Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Canvas
Proficiency in using WebEx as a presenter
Proficiency in training such applications, such as IBM Cognos, Ellucian Banner, Qualtrics, ServiceNow
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to execute technical training for adults of various technical abilities
Knowledge of Adult Learning principals
Interpersonal skills that include the ability to interact with technical and nontechnical personnel in a professional manner
Experience in developing interactive technical training materials (in-person, webinar and videos)
Knowledge of training techniques for technical subjects
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Highly organized and able to manage time and work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
The ability and desire to learn new and emerging tools and technologies.
