Montgomery College, is seeking a full-time Health Faculty in the Department of Health Enhancement, Exercise Science and Physical Education beginning August 2019. The Department of Health Enhancement, Exercise Science and Physical Education supports three Associate of Arts programs (Community Health, Exercise Science and Physical Education Teacher Education) and an Associate of Science in Public Health Sciences. Students can also earn Letters of Recognition in Aging Studies, Personal Trainer Exam Preparation and an Advanced Personal Training Certificate through the Discipline. In addition, the Discipline offers general health courses and physical activity classes to the MC community. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Faculty member is expected to teach a variety of courses offered by the Health Enhancement, Exercise Science and Physical Education Department in several of the following content areas including, but not limited to: General Health courses, Health Behaviors, and Science & Theory of Health.
Faculty members teach 30 semester hours per academic year, and the teaching schedule may include morning, evening, weekend, off-campus and on-line courses. Opportunities may exist for teaching summer classes
Faculty member will teach classes on multiple campuses.
Faculty member will be expected to serve on department, campus, and college committees, advise students, maintain an active program of professional development, and participate in professional organizations and activities.
Faculty member will be expected to participate in discipline related activities such as program evaluation and curriculum design.
Faculty member will be responsible for serving as the academic program coordinator for the Public Health Sciences AS degree.
Faculty member will maintain currency in all required certifications, participate in ongoing professional development and be active in professional organizations.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship .
A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field.
Must be a current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES).
Graduate coursework must include courses that reflect depth and breadth in public and behavioral health.
Demonstrate experience in establishing and maintaining connections in the public health community.
Must have a minimum of two years of experience teaching health in higher education.
Current CPR certification
Current Certified in Public Health (CPH) certification
Experience with design, implementation and evaluation of health programs
Demonstrate leadership roles in previous professional positions
Knowledge and experience with online course management software
