At Boston Children's Hospital, our Trauma Center's Injury Prevention Program is dedicated to dramatically decreasing the number of preventable injuries through research and public education. The Injury Prevention Program works with the Trauma Center to treat and prevent the most common and complex childhood injuries. We work in the local community, educating clinicians and families and distributing safety materials. Boston Children's administers and supports many community initiatives designed to prevent childhood injury.
The Injury Prevention Specialist will be responsible for:
Working to reduce the burden of injury and improve trauma care within the region through injury prevention and public education programs.
Promoting Boston Children's Hospital's role as a leader in childhood injury prevention locally by participating in community events, meetings and maintaining relationships with referring agencies and community members throughout the region.
Working in other areas of focus including, but are not limited to, the Boston Children's Hospital inpatient and community, car passenger safety program. In this role he/she would become a certified car seat technician and assist with community and hospital-based car seat checks.
Assisting in evaluation of outcome measurements for injury prevention programs.
Participating in occasional night and weekend events.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in human/social services or similar, and one to two years of previous experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to teach patients, families and staff.
The ability to speak in front of groups.
Well-developed organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills; self-motivation and ability to work independently in the community as well as part of a team.
A valid MA driver's license.
Spanish language skills preferred.
