Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Location: Hyde Park Campus
The primary goal is to establish a platform to screen tumors are resistant or sensitive to immunotherapy. The ultimate gole is to identify new cancer therapy targets by using Genome-Wide CRISPR screening both in vivo and in vitro.
This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by extramural funds (e.g., grant, gift, endowment) which are renewed under provisions set by the grantor. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these extramural funds and satisfactory job performance. If this position is eliminated due to the discontinuation of extramural funding, you will be given a minimum of one pay period's written notice (if exempt: 30 days, if non-exempt: 2 weeks), or pay in-lieu of notice.
Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.
Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.
Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.
Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.
Highly self-motivated candidate, with the ability to function independently and as part of an interactive team.
A strong background of molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, and immunology.
Dedication to basic research, a true 'drive', is important.
Command of written and spoken English language.
Education, Experience, or Certifications:
PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, or immunology with post-doctoral experience in the cancer immunology field required.
Knowledge of: recombinant DNA technologies.
RNA and protein analysis.
In vivo tumor experiments, mouse genetic mouse models, flow cytometry and similar immune assays.
Some work is done while standing at the bench, or sitting for prolonged periods of time at instruments.
