Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable and efficient Research Professional 2. This position involves basic understanding of research duties that requires some previous experience within this discipline. This position delegates hands-on research responsibilities for a variety of procedures that involve different methods and techniques. Ideally, the chosen candidate will have the ability to handle some responsibilities independently, yet still receive partial guidance and direction to expand growth and knowledge-base within the field.
This position is part-time, 20 hours per week.
Job Duties/Responsibilities 30% - Subject Recruitment • Identify and recruit study candidates. • Determine subject eligibility, and maintain compliance with protocol eligibility requirements. • Consent patients for the study with regards to the established protocol, Good Clinical Practice, and University of Minnesota Policies. • Schedule data collection interviews according to the protocol. • Target and meet specific study recruitment goals. • Coordinate study activities at all study recruitment locations.
45% - Data Collection • Administer study data collection process through phone, email or in-person surveys. • Prepare REDCAP electronic data forms. • Perform data entry in REDCap, and ensure accurate data reporting. • Assist with organization and maintenance of study documents, research files, and supplies • Assist with data cleaning, quality control and assurance checks of study materials, survey documents
25% - Research Coordination • Participate in all phases of research including translation of surveys into Spanish and questionnaire design. • Prepare reports regarding study progress for the study team. • Organize investigator team meetings. • Manage IRB communications. • Ensure compliance with human subjects, HIPAA, and participant consent. • Assist with ct.gov account. • Assist with preparation of NIH progress reports. • Assist with presenting research findings. • Support principal investigator’s interactions with departmental accountant to ensure fiscal reporting and budgetary management of project. • Assist principal investigator with research, coordination, administration, planning and implementation of study. • Work to identify and resolve problems with the support of your supervisor.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications • BA/BS in public health, clinical research, psychology, counseling, or a health-related field with at least 2 years of experience; OR a combination of related education and experience to total six years. • Proficiency/experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. • Experience with REDCap or similar survey software. • Prior experience involving research subject recruitment, direct patient contact, and data collection. • Knowledge of and experience following IRB/HIPAA guidelines. • Must have proficient written and verbal skill sets in English and Spanish languages.
