Job Duties/Responsibilities: Departmental Operations (25%) - Purchases and orders departmental supplies and for special projects via purchasing card, UMarket, and special orders. - Work with Department Administrator on space utilization and room allocation. Makes recommendations for short term and long-term space planning as part of the departmental strategic plan. - Identify and negotiate with vendors for office machines and recognition events. - Serve as Department Access Coordinator, responsible for key assignment and building access. - Assist faculty with the preparation of promotion dossiers and annual faculty reviews - Assist with recruitment and onboarding process for new faculty - Demonstrate the ability to independently solve problems and answer questions from students, staff and faculty. Serve as department point of contact for facilities management. - Plan faculty events
Assistant to Chair (35%) - Provide general administrative support to the Department Chair including scheduling and travel reimbursement. - Draft correspondence and memos for the chair on pertinent department issues. - Attend executive level meetings to keep informed about University-wide and departmental activities and communicate information as appropriate. - Monitor critical action items and brief the Department Head on developments related to those issues. - Perform research and report preparation related to the activities of the Department of Neurology. - Analyze and research issues on behalf of the Department Head and prepare appropriate responses. - Demonstrate experience in using interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, working independently, showing initiative, and meeting deadlines
General Neurology & Movement Disorder Division Support (20%) - Provide general administrative support to the General Neurology and Movement Disorder section physicians including purchasing, expense reports, and administrative scheduling. - Includes providing administrative supporting the Chief Physician of the Neuroscience service line - Create agendas, attend, and take notes for Division meetings as requested. Research Associate - Study Support (15%) - Experience working with confidential data (student, health records) and demonstrated high level of confidentiality is required for this position -Supervise student research associate on both the Natural History of ALS and Lung Volume Recruitment and Expiratory Strength Trainer studies - Conduct weekly home visits at research participants homes - Act at back-up research coordinator for LVR-EMST study
Other duties as assigned (5%) - Special projects as assigned
Salary Range: $16.18 to $27.21 USD/hour

Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED and four years of related office experience (training/education may be substituted for some of the years of experience) Demonstrated computer experience including Microsoft Office Previous experience working with a department head/chair or equivalent Previous experience supervising Previous experience working with patients participating in research studies Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently
