A full-time postdoctoral research position is available in Dr. Eva de Alba Bioengineering lab to investigate the molecular bases of inflammation and potential biotechnological applications. The research involves biochemical, functional and structural studies of inflammatory components using single molecule techniques (optical traps), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), Transmission Electron Microcopy (TEM), Fluorescence Spectroscopy.
Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to carry out research involving protein expression and purification, biophysical and biochemical studies with the techniques mentioned above, implement and develop research ideas on biotechnological applications with guidance of the PI, write research articles with the PI aimed at disseminating the obtained results from the research performed in the de Alba lab and play an important role in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Biophysics or a related field. Experience in one of more of the following: single molecule techniques, optical traps, NMR and/or TEM, fluorescence spectroscopy. Experience in cloning, protein expression and purification is also desirable. The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 first author peer-reviewed research papers.
