Advertised Summary Job Description: The Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research announces an immediate opening for a Technician B. The Technician B joins a newly formed team to work in the Irving Institute Biobank, working under the direction of the Director of the Irving Institute Biobank.
The Technician B will catalog all incoming biospecimen samples, process all of the samples into buffy coat, plasma, saliva, serum, and urine aliquots and store them in the -80 freezers. The Technician B will also assist with logging and delivering biospecimens from the collections points across the Medical Center campus. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing solutions and performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the Biobank. Other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: The desired candidate must be detail oriented; possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to multi-task, work independently as well as part of a team, and work well under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling blood specimens. Experience with automated liquid handling systems
