Essential Functions: Under the guidance of the Laboratory PI, performs cell biology and physiology research in the field of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis and metabolism, using modern biological research tools. Performs lab management duties. Junior and senior applicants will be considered.The successful candidate will work on cell biology and physiology projects in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. The candidate will be expected to work independently on assigned projects as well as to carry out research activities under the supervision of senior personnel in the lab. The candidate will also be responsible for the management of the lab under the guidance of the laboratory PI. Accordingly, the candidate will be ordering lab supplies and will be responsible for the maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment. The ideal candidate will have biochemistry, cell biology and/or molecular biology experience in cell and mouse models, will be a highly motivated and very conscientious individual. 1. 65% Research: Carries out research using the following techniques: cloning, quantitative RT-PCR, DNA/RNA/protein purification, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, CRISPR, mammalian cell and tissue culture (cell lines and primary cells/tissues), mouse breeding and phenotyping, buffer preparation.2. 20% Lab management: ordering of supplies and maintenance of laboratory equipment.3. 10% Data management: assists with the management and analysis of data.4. 5% Attends lab meetings and reads current journal articles pertaining to relevant projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in biology or related field required.Familiarity with the following techniques (or ability to rapidly learn the techniques required): cloning, quantitative RT-PCR, DNA/RNA/protein purification, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, mammalian cell and tissue culture, mouse handling.Excellent organizational and communication skills and desire to maintain good relations with co-workers required.
