Reporting to the Service Manager, acts as a lead person to regular custodial and student staff. Overall management responsibility for designated buildings to include supervision of building staff, meeting and discussing building needs with building occupants. Coordinate staff and/or contractor’s services as directed. Assist the Service Manager in the maintenance of records, coordination and response to service calls. Lend technical support to staff in the execution of assigned tasks for specifically assigned campus buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. For assigned buildings, ensure that the facility is clean prior to its use and during operational hours, if applicable. 2. Assist in the coordination and supervision of major cleaning projects for assigned buildings. 3. For buildings assigned, responsibility for the hiring process, performance evaluation of employees, recommendation and implementation of appropriate disciplinary action when needed, and scheduling of work assignments and project work. Assist with these responsibilities in other buildings as assigned by Service Manager. 4. Assist in training of staff in established procedures, chemical use and operation of equipment. Provide ongoing training for new and/or existing employees to ensure basic functional capabilities and expand skill levels and scope in designated buildings. 5. Procure supplies and equipment and assist in updating inventory count on supplies and equipment custodial services. 6. Provide written reports for daily work assigned, assigned projects and service calls. 7. Assist in providing custodial support in a supplementary or educational manner. 8. Evaluate the performance of employees on a routine schedule. 9. Make quality control inspections ensuring high quality Facilities Services performance. 10. Perform such tasks as furniture moving, window washing, spot extermination of bugs and pests, snow removal and disposing of non hazardous lab wastes. Arrange for equipment repairs through the Service manager. 11. Open and secure rooms, areas or key boxes as needed to provide services. 12. Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacuums, automatic scrubbers, shampoo machines and buffers. 13. Meet with campus departments to determine needs and services, as necessary. 14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of three years in related employment requiring general knowledge of custodial services and handling of non hazardous wastes. Specific experience in chemical usage, handling equipment, operation and maintenance and project work in carpet care and hard surfaced floor care will be required. Proven ability to organize cleaning procedures, assign work and review job progress. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
