Position is 32 hours per week and is benefits eligible.
Provides administrative support for the Center for Religion and the Human (CRH) and to the College Arts and Humanities Institute (CAHI) and affiliated Centers. Manages daily business affairs of the CRH and assists with daily business affairs of CAHI. Serves as account delegate for CRH accounts and CAHI accounts as well as those of the Center for Theoretical Inquiry in Humanities and Renaissance Studies Program. Oversees programming for CRH. Plans, organizes, and supervises all event logistics for CRH. Assists with event logistics for CAHI.
REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and three years office experience including or supplemented by experience administering a program.
Proficiency in project planning, management and logistics oversight to insure smooth-running operations, meetings, tours, travel, etc. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, online search mechanisms, HTML. Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and work cooperatively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and students.
Bachelor's degree. Five years of experience. Experience with Indiana University, web design/maintenance, graphic design, various social media platforms and with utilizing IU financial systems.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Ability to concentrate and to handle multiple tasks during frequent interruptions. Position involves walking and using stairs, talking, hearing, listening, using hands to operate tools or controls, significant keyboard use. Must interact with the visiting public in a polite, friendly, and professional manner.
This job requires constant mental effort. The Assistant must be constantly alert, thinking in new directions, and yet focused on the tasks at hand. During the set-up and clean-up of after-hours events, there is also a strong physical component to the labor (carrying and lifting required).
Employee may be required to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds. Must have the stamina to follow a full day's office work with several hours of event supervision.
May on occasion have to work hours other than 8am-5pm.
