A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on a new 5-year NIH funded project to study sex differences associated with drug relapse. The emphasis is on delineating the role of brain derived extracellular vesicles (BDEs) using preclinical addiction models and further characterizing their role in brain dysfunction. In addition, the successful candidate will also study these BDEs in regulating key mechanisms at the synapse using in vitro approaches. Several highthroughput “omics” approaches will also be applied. The successful candidate will work in a small, but growing, lab of an early-career Principal Investigator and will receive significant mentoring in manuscript/grant writing including training junior trainees.
Ph.D in Biological Sciences.
Experience in one or more of the research approaches described in the position summary. Preference will be given to candidates with Pre/Postdoctoral research experience in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology and physiology. Candidates should be well experienced in handling rodents including stereotactic surgery. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Graphpad Prism, and Microsoft Office is essential. Strong organizational and communications skills, and the ability to work independently and in a group setting is expected.
