The Instructor is a member of the ranked faculty whose duties require effectiveness in teaching, a commitment to staying current with their discipline and appropriate pedagogies, and a willingness to serve the academic unit, college and/or University. The Instructor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective January 1 2007, the Instructor rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains and the Greenwood Laboratory School.
Description of Primary Duties:
Primary duty is to teach secondary Spanish grades 6-12 in an inquiry based approach implementing resources from the Web via SmartBoard and use of BlackBoard. Immersion in the Spanish culture via speakers, projects, after school activcities, field trips, Study Away tours and hands on projects is expected.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Instructor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Required: Masters degree in Education, or completion of masters degree within one year of hire, MO teaching certification in Spanish, minimum of three years of full time secondary Spanish teaching experience, willingness to sponsor Spanish club and enter contests, technology skills including use/knowledge of , websites, and scholarly potential.
