Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting through the Division of Student Affairs, the Dean of Students Office at Iowa State University is seeking a Program Assistant for Supplemental Instruction to assist in the coordination of Supplemental Instruction (SI) programming.
As a member of the Academic Success Center team, the Program Assistant for Supplemental Instruction, under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Supplemental Instruction (SI), is primarily responsible for selection, supervision and development of undergraduate staff including SI Leaders and SI Mentors. The Program Assistant for Supplemental Instruction also assists with delivery of the program by completing administrative tasks and conducting assessment and evaluation.
Supplemental Instruction targets students enrolled in historically difficult courses. In addition, the Program Assistant for Supplemental Instruction fulfills duties for the Academic Success Center and Dean of Students Office such as delivering academic success presentations and workshops.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: knowledge and/or experience working with college students in a student-centered learning environment, knowledge of cognitive development and student development theories, and experience developing and implementing interactive training programs. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to balance multiple tasks and projects as necessary; and will have working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, and basic assessment practices.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience supervising, advising, and supporting employees/staff
Experience developing and implementing interactive training programs
