The department of Newark Adult Outpatient is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II to be the primary intake clinician for adult consumers in outpatient treatment. Serves as an assistant to the Clinician Supervisor in the chart review process of the unit and in the assignment of consumers to the clinicians who will provide ongoing treatment. Provides clinical leadership to the unit in the absence of the Clinician Supervisor.
Involves the individual and the individual's family or other support system in developing achievable and person-centered treatment plans in accordance with professional standards.
Spends appropriate percentage of time in direct service.
Identifies appropriate resources for consumers and families/support system, based on assessed needs.
Collaborates effectively with all treatment team members, referral sources and social support networks in treatment and care of consumers.
Maintains appropriate consumer records.
Initiates the process of discharge planning, ensures discharge plans are developed and that the consumer or family has been linked to aftercare, prior to discharge.
Provides clinical leadership in the absence of the Clinician Supervisor and in collaboration with the Clinician Supervisor, assigns consumers to the appropriate clinician for therapy sessions.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with the Clinician Supervisor, with peers, with referral sources and with aftercare referrals.
Meets all annual requirements including licenses and credentials.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health discipline, plus two (2) years post Master's experience in a mental health field; or a Doctorate Degree in a mental health discipline.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure, as required by the State Board of Social Work.
License in a mental health discipline is required (LCSW, LPC, LMFT or psychology license).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated competency in treating adults and families.
Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
CADC/LCADC in addition to clinical license.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
May be required to work at least one (1) evening per week.
Valid driver's license for use in community settings.
