The School of Social Work (SSW) at Bridgewater State University is a growing and dynamic part of a cohesive and engaged campus community that provides support for student success and professional opportunities for staff and faculty. Position responsibilities include assisting the Administrator of Social Work Field Education in overseeing field education for approximately 250 undergraduate and graduate social work students, coordinating supervisor training and the School of Social Work Professional Education Program (PEP).
This is a full-time, exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
1)Share the full responsibility for social work students in field as assigned by the Administrator of Social Work Field Education for both BSW and MSW students. Collaborate and consult with the School of Social Work Chair, the MSW & BSW Program Coordinators, and social work faculty. Assume duties as assigned, including evening and weekend responsibilities. 2)Supervise field coordinators and work collaboratively with field faculty to ensure quality Field Education. 3)Consult with faculty and students on field placement concerns and grievances. Work with those involved to ensure appropriate resolution. Serve on Field Status Review Committees as assigned by the MSW Coordinator or the Administrator of Social Work Field Education. 4)Promote and maintain strong working relationships with the professional social work community. 5)As needed, work with students to clarify their professional goals and learning objectives. Provide consultation to students, faculty, and field coordinators to assist students in meeting their goals and objectives. 6)Provide independent management of the recruitment, development and approval of field practicum sites at all levels as assigned by the Administrator of Social Work Field Education. 7)Implement regular programs of orientation and training to field instructors and supervisors for purpose of enhancing the quality of student supervision and learning experiences as designed and directed by the Administrator of Social Work Field Education. 8)Support and develop strategies to facilitate the integration of field work and classroom content. 9)Monitor utilization and maintenance of the field education program’s data management system. 10)Manage implementation of the School of Social Work's continuing education and outreach efforts to promote the SSW's visibility in the community. 11)Assist to effectively represent the SSW's field education program to the local community and make contributions to the social work knowledge base at the local and state levels. 12)Assist in the recruitment and orientation of MSW students via participation in information sessions, recruitment visits and orientation workshops in consultation with the MSW Program Coordinator and the Administrator of Social Work Field Education. 13)Effectively mediate field education related conflict including that between and among staff, faculty, students and agencies.
1)a LICSW 2)Three years post-MSW experience including demonstrated evidence of successful experience in social work field education and supervision of students in field placements 3)Database management skills & facility with social media 4)Experience in training & event management 5)Post-LICSW practice experience in diverse settings 6)Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, colleagues and community professionals 7)Strong written and oral communication skills 8)Knowledge of the social service delivery system in Massachusetts and Rhode Island 9)Driver's license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel in MA and RI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
