Under general direction of Department Leadership, the Clinical Social Worker II provides social work services consisting of continuing care services and clinical social work services, including crisis intervention, mandated reporting, and coordination of health and mental health services with community providers.
The social worker is responsible for education and advocacy of patients, families and/or significant others. Participates in related department functions, such as community and program education.
This position will support all disease programs at Moores Cancer Center, including practice locations in Hillcrest, La Jolla and Encinitas. The social worker is part of a multi-disciplinary team that takes care of the entire patient's needs during and after treatments for malignant and non-malignant diagnoses. The social worker also works with the teams to develop new patient education and support groups
A Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years post MSW experience.
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - issued by the state of California.
Development and utilization of research to improve clinical practice and implement evidence based psychosocial support programs, services and interventions.
Interest in research to advance clinical psychosocial knowledge in provision of healthcare services to cancer patients.
Demonstrated Oncology experience.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
