This position will serve as research associate in a mammalian genetics laboratory performing PCR, RT PCR,DNA/RNA isolation, cell culture, mouse work, and sequence analysis. Position also includes ordering of supplies, assisting with lab management, assisting with writing and editing, and some database management.
Demonstrated organizational skills, clear record keeping, reliability and honesty.
Experience working in a life sciences lab with proficiency in using standard molecular biological techniques (pipetting, calculating molarity, etc.)
Ability to work under supervision and independently on projects with a variety of personalities.
Good work ethic, including ability to have at or near 100% attendance, reliability in research and in interactions with peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to organize a varied workload to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals.
Experience working with mice and managing mouse breeding colonies.
Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Experience setting up mouse genetic crosses and observing phenotypes/traits.
Bachelor's degree in biochemistry or genetics.
Two or more years of experience working with mice in a lab setting.
