Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
We seek a highly motivated statistical analyst to work on epidemiological projects to investigate olfactory impairment and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and dementia. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Statistical Analyst will manage large epidemiological datasets and conduct statistical analyses. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for receiving data, deriving analytic variables, preparing analytic datasets for collaborators/students, developing analytic plans, conducting statistical analyses, quality control procedures, and documenting relevant activities. S/he also needs to perform periodical quality control checks on others’ analytic programs. This Statistical Analyst will also contribute to literature reviews, manuscript preparation and publication, and should be able to work with collaborators and other team members to ensure the quality of data analysis and reporting. This position is located at the MSU East Lansing campus.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in epidemiology or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing and analyzing large epidemiological datasets; proficiency in SAS; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master’s degree in epidemiology or equivalent experience in epidemiologic research
Fast learning and high sense of responsibility
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Ability to deliver publishable tables and figures
Ability to work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
More than one-year experience in statistical analyses
Demonstrates experience in analyzing large epidemiological datasets
Proficiency in other statistical analysis software (e.g., R)
Takes pride in the production of high quality work
Demonstrates experience in writing technical reports and scientific manuscripts
