Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Williams Lab in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center seeks a Research Assistant. Our experiments rely heavily upon preparing plasmids for the production of viral particles which are applied in transgenic mice, therefore the duties of this position will include molecular biology / cloning for plasmid propagation and preparation, mammalian cell culture and transfection, mouse colony maintenance (i.e. breeding, genotyping, and weaning), and surgical procedures such as the stereotaxic infusion of viral particles. Experience in at least some, though not all, of these experimental techniques is required, as qualified candidates will receive further training and professional development opportunities. This opportunity is best suited to someone who has “good hands”/technical proficiency, who has excellent record keeping, and who enjoys work that requires a variety of skills and techniques.
